Kiss Products, Long Island Cares partner to support single mothers
Port Washington-based Kiss Products is partnering with Long Island Cares to support single mothers on Giving Tuesday, an initiative designed to inspire generosity and philanthropy. This year Giving Tuesday falls on Dec. 3.
Kiss Products, which manufactures and distributes salon-quality nails and lashes, is working with Long Island Cares, a nonprofit headquartered in Hauppauge that aims to fight food insecurity and poverty in the region. The two organizations have set aside Giving Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m., with 200 Kiss employees gathering to create and distribute 400 care packages of essential food supplies and a selection of beauty products to support single mothers in Nassau County.
“Our commitment to social responsibility extends far beyond our products,” a Kiss Products spokesperson said in a news release about the initiative. “Single mothers are the backbone of so many families, yet they often face disproportionate challenges. Through this initiative, we want to provide more than just temporary relief- we want to celebrate their resilience and create moments of self-care, joy and empowerment.”
According to the company, addressing women’s empowerment is one of its social impact initiatives. The care packages are designed to express respect, “affirming that joys of self-care should be accessible to everyone, especially for those navigating challenging economic landscapes,” according to the news release.
The effort comes at a time when Long Island Cares provides nutritious, culturally relevant food to more than 221,000 food-insecure Long Islanders, and addresses the root causes of hunger. It distributes more than 15 million pounds of food to 337 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior living and veterans’ facilities, and more each year. Food is also distributed at seven pantries, each located to serve underserved communities.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Kiss Products in building a community where no one is left behind,” Kaylin Peterson, corporate philanthropy manager of Long Island Cares, said in the news release.
“Our commitment to making a difference doesn’t end with this event—it’s a continuous journey to support those in need and uplift the communities we serve,” Peterson said.
