Long Island Builders Institute taps new officers

The Long Island Builders Institute, the largest homebuilding and remodeling trade group in New York State, has introduced its new slate of officers for 2024. 

The new officers were inducted by Suffolk County Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey at LIBI’s board meeting and dinner held Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook. 

Martin Dettling of the Albanese Organization is LIBI’s new president, while the group’s former president Vincent Calvosa of the Calvosa Organization is now chairman. 

“Martin Dettling brings a tremendous amount of skill, success and industry knowledge to the table and myself and the rest of the LIBI members look forward to working under his leadership to advance the interests of the homebuilding and remodeling industries on Long Island and across the state,” LIBI CEO Mike Florio said in an organization statement. 

Other new officers include Anthony Bartone of Terwilliger & Bartone Properties, who becomes vice president; Robert Cartelli of Outstanding Plumbing & Heating is the new associate vice president; Jon Weiss of B2K Development is now treasurer; Ken Abrami of Tritec Real Estate is secretary; and Paolo Pironi of Pironi Homes is the group’s second vice president. 

Newly minted Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine delivered opening remarks at the ceremony. 

“Let’s cut the red tape,” Romaine said in the statement. “I want to make it a little bit easier for this industry to work in Suffolk County.” 

In addition, Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer inducted the new officers for the Long Island Builders Institute’s charitable partner, Long Island Home Builders Care. The charity’s new officers include: Jay Ratto of J Ratto Landscaping as president; Alan Kennemer of Express Kitchen as vice president; Grant Havasy of Blue & Gold Homes as treasurer; and Dave Bloom of Pine Aire Truck Services as secretary.  

“Without Long Island Home Builders Care, we in Babylon would not have been able to sufficiently supply enough food and school supplies to families in need,” Schaffer said in the statement. 

LIBI represents more than 700 builders, remodelers and associate members. Founded in 1941, the organization aims to advance the interests of the industry through communication with local and state government officials, engaging in community outreach and expanding its members’ business networks.
